On the 15th May 2016 the Mike Varney Physiotherapy Team helped support Cancer Research UK, by providing free sports massage and injury advice to the thousands of runners who gave up their Sunday morning to raise money to beat a devastating disease.
Whether you have been affected, your family, friends, loved ones, children, it is now a large part of our world with 352,197 new cases identified in the UK since 2013. It can be a heartbreaking disease, leaving love ones behind wondering if they can ever fill the void of lost life, but now it is also a disease that can be survived! Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading charity dedicated to beating cancer through research. They have saved millions of lives by discovering new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer, and survival has doubled over the past 40 years.
Everyday in the UK there are more than 400 people diagnosed with cancer that will survivethe disease. The money raised by these events all over the country helps to fund research into more than 200 types of cancer, supporting groundbreaking science that can one day help to create a healthier world.
In 2015, the Harlow Race for Life raised £111,000 with 1,700 women and children taking part. This year was even bigger, and the Mike Varney Physiotherapy Team were honored to be there, supporting the thousands of women taking part. We hope we helped to raise an even bigger total this year and are proud to say we will support Cancer Research UK for many years to come.
